Line Haul Premium

Contrary to what you might have heard, a higher axle rating, for example, a 23K material versus a 20K material doesn’t in fact make it better. For many commercial vehicle applications, a 20K material is all the brake block they will ever need. Manufacturer’s materials behave differently from one another and have dissimilar performance characteristics. Some 23K materials may actually be too aggressive for an application and create safety issues. CMB 08T is used extensively in OEM and aftermarket channels due to its universal appeal. It consistently delivers excellent stopping power, good lining life and low drum wear in line haul or moderate vocational applications. In the right brake configuration, CMB 08T will comply with the new stopping distance that has been legislated for New OEM trucks and tractors.

CMB 10T was designed for on and off highway applications with heavy and/or shifting loads or difficult terrain such as construction gravel pits, line haul, logging, oil field, agriculture, and yard tractors. It has low drum wear and is suitable for s-cam and older wedge brake systems due to friction stability. Due to its versatility, CMB 10T is our most popular OEM trailer axle material.

CMB 12T comes from a family, recognized as the Industry standard for multi-duty applications and meets the demands of stopping and controlling heavier than normal loads across the plains or in the mountains. CMB 12T provides the lowest cost per mile through fade free stopping, longer lining life and noise free operation. It was becoming the lining of choice for refuse and multi-stop fleets. CMB 12T has excellent compatibility with the drum surface due to the use of MetalMate Technology.

With the current trend to ban pollutants such as heavy metals including lead and copper, CMB 12T is only available for areas where laws permit.

Not to rest on our laurels, the C. M. Brake R&D group has worked diligently to develop the most versatile product in the industry today. The result is the CMB MM RED. The product was introduced in 2012 and has rave reviews.

We’ve pulled all the stops to bring you the most versatile product in our line-up. No application is too severe or too mild for this product line. It is available in all part numbers with exception of strip lining.

CMB MM RED is rated up to 23,000 lbs. and is not overly aggressive so it will also work at 20,000 lbs.; even front steer brake.

Predictable performance is achieved, regardless of payload and duty cycle by providing low stable friction and minimal friction fade.

MM stands for MetalMate, our proprietary Transfer film Technology. Not only is the CMB MM RED our lowest wearing material in our product line, MM provides outstanding drum life which is so important because after all, drums need to last as long as the lining and that contributes to lowering brake cost.

A Multi-Duty Combination, CMB 1263 will provide quiet, positive stopping for all types of demanding terrain and punishing, multi-stop service. A semi-metallic block, CMB 63, is installed on the cam end and our organic CMB 12 is installed on the anchor end. The two products complement each other by dissipating and dispersing heat, and at the same time, developing uniform friction. High temperature performance is enhanced without detrimental effect on wear. Drum life is improved due to the ability of the friction materials pull heat from the mating surfaces.

A stand alone 25,000 lb. G.A.W.R. material, CMB 63 is an OEM approved material for severe service applications. An important factor is that it is a semi-metallic material that lives where organics ultimately fail. CMB 63 has high wear resistance, uniform friction, excellent heat dissipation and heat dispersion. Uniform friction means that the lining friction doesn’t contribute to the generation of damaging heat. The material also contains MetalMate Technology to enhance drum life. The G.A.W.R. increases with the brake size and surface area so this product can be rated as high as 32,000 lbs.
